I'm a Dutchman in Jacksonville, FL.
I commute 17 miles per day. This town seems to have a subculture that has a nasty passion for burning as much gasoline as fast as possible, in the biggest loudest truck or other inefficient junk and cars are all important here How big and expensive and wasteful is your vehicle? Our mayor is actually the owner of a chain of gas stations!
But in spite of this, I was able to map out a route to work over residential streets and I'm having a ball and losing pounds. I'll post more soon about my commuting bicycle, which is a 16 year old Dutch utility bike that had 3 speeds and drum brakes, but is now getting some modifications that are making it ridiculously awesome.

My other really fun thing is a tandem.. heh!
So Cool, I love bicycling on the tandem with you, it's a lot of fun. It's a shame that Jacksonville doesn't have more bike paths though.
